So I realise and apologise for how lax my blogging has been in the last week.
The husband has had the week off work so we have been going to gym, hiking round some Yorkshire sights and generally going into town A LOT!!
One of the highlights was going to the beautiful Bolton Abbey on Saturday for a friends birthday. Although it was a bit cloudier than the other days this week we still had a BBQ. Proper British style, you know, failing to light it and wondering if the food is cooked. We had a superb walk. It was only about 3 miles but the hills made it seem so much more!!!
Finished off the holidays with an amazing Easter roast at the parents yesterday. Lamb, yummy!
We had today off too so I went to the gym twice because I’m insane while the husband revised for his upcoming CIMA exams.
Back to work and reality tomorrow.
I’ve just prepared my very first slow cooker meal! We got the slow cooker as a wedding present nearly two years ago but I’ve never used it until this day.
I went for a Schwartz sausage & bean casserole mix. Has to be said was very easy to prepare. Now just to wait 8 hours…
Nothing like spending a Sunday watching House of Cards and working out which store is cheapest to do your juice cleanse with!
Me and the husband hit another event in town on Wednesday night. It was at the Trinity Shopping Centre and hosted by Glamour.com
We hit up Philip Stoner first to check out my new engagement ring, which sadly was a couple of sizes too large so we couldn’t take it home. They did take my wedding band in too for polishing so I’m very excited to collect the set tomorrow!
We decided to ponder round a few stores but not many actually had discounts on. I bought a cute top in Pink by Victoria’s Secret which pretty much sums up my attitude to exercise generally. I used my secrets reward card, which sadly only had £10 on, so got this top for a bargain basement price.
Then I decided to check out Coast as I’d not been in in a while and what with a couple of weddings happening in the summer wanted to get some ideas for dresses. I didn’t even plan on buying anything but came out with a dress and a skirt as all full priced items were 25% off!
To top it off, if you spent over certain amounts you got different prizes. So for over £100 we got a £10 Trinity voucher and for over £10 we got a bag of pick and mix.
A fun night was had by all and we finished it off with the sushi I had been dying for all week.
So I finally went to the Tuesday spin class I’ve been planning on going to for around a month now. And omg I hope I can walk in the morning!
I actually quite enjoyed it…eventually!
I hit a wall around the 18 minute mark where I thought I was going to throw the towel in but I persevered and was really glad I did.
After that point it didn’t get easier, but I got more into the flow and rhythm of it.
I will definitely be going again, but not next week. Next week I’m planning on doing a juice cleanse Monday -Wednesday. Apparently you shouldn’t exercise while on a cleanse
So I tried this new product this morning and I just have to tell you about it because I am so impressed!
It’s the Oil Control Mattifier SPF15 by Murad. I was skeptical at first as my forehead and nose usually look fine at the beginning of the day but then somewhere along the line it goes seriously shiny! So I didn’t know if a product existed to help with this.
Turns out there is and this is it! I put it on instead of my usual Simple light moisturiser, after my Simple cleanser and toner. The smell at first was a little odd and I was concerned by the slightly greasy texture, but don’t be put off! It went on really easily and I made sure to get an overall coverage but really applied on the necessary areas.
By the time I got home at 7pm I would usually have a mirror for a forehead but was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty the same as when I left 12 hours earlier!
It is quite pricey at £37 for a 50ml tube but all Murad products are buy one, get one half price in Marks and Spencer’s at the moment plus I had a £20 voucher for there so wasn’t a major investment this time!
So this is a must buy now for me. I am sold!
Well I have done absolutely nothing with my day today. I spent a good hour or two researching juice cleanses. I really want to go on one during the school holidays as this seems an ideal time to try one out. I priced up three different options the Honest Healthy 3 day soup and smoothie cleanse is £199, the Juice Master 3 day cleanse is £99.99 and I also priced up buying raw ingredients for a Dr Oz cleanse I found on Pinterest (so you know it’s legit) and that came to around £70 without buying a juicer. So any way you look at it, it’s going to be pricey.
Saturday was spent doing a lot of laundry (5 loads!) and having a tennis lesson. Needless to say, I was not good. The teacher Billy said I had a good serve…and that was about it. I have another 3 90 minute lessons booked so hopefully I’ll at least stop hitting the ball into a different court by the end. I also went to town with the husband and we spotted the head designer at Chanel Karl Lagerfeld. Very exciting!
Friday night we had a couple over for dinner. The husband cooked chorizo and mushroom risotto to start, followed by steak and chips. It was delicious! We drank quite a bit and had a wonderful night.
Can’t wait to watch the season finale of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills on E! tonight. Probably should paint my nails too.
So I went to the Harvey Nichols Leeds beauty school dropout event on Tuesday night with my mother in law. My mother was originally coming but my dad gad a funny turn at work and she’s didn’t want to come understandably.
We wandered around for a bit supping on the free fizz and looking at the different master classes that were happening. Sadly as we didn’t arrive until 7.30pm most were half way through.
Thanks to www.boobsandloubs.com I want to check out Giorgio Armani as had recommended a few products. I said to the lovely assistant who was called Belinda I wanted to try the Maestro Eraser dark circle concealer as I heard it was a miracle worker!
Belinda sat me down and talked me through the basic products. She was brilliant! She put the Luminous Silk foundation on the one side of my face and the Maestro Fusion foundation on the other so I could compare which base would be best for me. I decided on the Maestro Fusion as it made me skin look really fresh and natural.
One of the best things she showed me was the Fluid Sheer number 5 which was basically an amazing liquid blush but can also be used on the eyelids and lips! I love a multipurpose item, so obviously had to have it.
After my amazing make-over where I was also recommend a number of products, I convinced my mother in law to have one too. She was convinced they couldn’t do anything to help her. Belinda proved her wrong. She had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the look they gave her.
I ended up buying the Fluid Sheet number 5 and Maestro Eraser number 2 and my mother in law bought Maestro Eraser number 3, Luminous Silk foundation number 5.5, Fluid Sheer number 3 (more of bronzer than a blush) and the Eyes to Kill quad palette number 4. So together we spent a small fortune in that concession and will definitely be back before long.
At the end they gave us an awesome goodie bag which contained a Beauty School tea towel, lots of perfume samples, a beauty balm sample, a skin mas, some testers for Dermalogia and a £10 off voucher for Nails Inc. Score!
Another week has gone by and besides the drama that was Wednesday not a lot has happened.
Treated my mum to a manicure at our local Nails Inc champagne bar on Friday afternoon after work. It was lovely! I went for Slone Street this time and mum got Kensington Passage gel effect.
I then had to get the bus for the first time in I don’t know how long, it was as horrific as I expected and took forever. We met up with dad and the husband for some 2-4-1 cocktails in Gustos and after a couple we decided to stay for dinner, we invited my brother and his girlfriend along. It was a delicious meal and if you’ve never been to Gustos http://www.gustorestaurants.uk.com (or any of its affiliates) I really can’t recommend it enough! After this we went to my Nanna’s house as a load of my family were up for an early Mothering Sunday weekend. It was so nice to see everybody again and have a good catch up.
On Saturday, myself and my aunt went into Harrogate on the train to do be a bit of shopping and sightseeing. Didn’t really buy a lot besides a bargainalicious tennis outfit. However, we went to the Harrogate Pump House Museum http://www.harrogate.gov.uk/musm/Pages/RoyalPumpRoomMuseum.aspx and I learnt all sorts! Apparently Victorians used to come up to Harrogate on their way to Scotland for the Grouse shooting season and have three weeks of recuperation. They were made to drink up to four glasses of sulphur water to cleanse their system. The guide took us down into the basement where the suppler water well is, it is aptly named the stinking well because, well, it did, A LOT! Very eggy is how I could best describe it. When I got home the husband made schnitzel for dinner, he always makes enough to feed the five hundred so I’m sure we’ll be eating it for days.
Sunday was a relaxed day which started with leading the youngest junior church group and was followed by a very filling and pleasant meal at The Bingley Arms, the oldest inn in England. It’s in the doomsday book! http://www.bingleyarms.co.uk/
By all accounts a super weekend. I will try get some photos of the family together for you as soon as possible.
